Crypto firm Binance covers 90% of losses after $6.3bn hack
Published · 1 min read

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has covered 90% of the $6.3 billion stolen in a hack, with the remaining 10% potentially taking longer to replace.
The FBI has attributed the hack to North Korea, specifically naming the Lazarus Group. Binance has resumed withdrawals on several networks and has replenished stolen assets using various funds and its corporate treasury. The hack is believed to be the largest in crypto history, surpassing a $1.5 billion theft from Bybit in 2025. The investigation is ongoing, with the US Secret Service working to recover the stolen funds.
