NASA updates lander plans for Moon landings, finally solves long-festering Orion issue

Published · 1 min read

NASA has detailed its plans for returning astronauts to the Moon as part of the Artemis Program, with SpaceX's Starship and Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers playing key roles.

The revised plan involves Orion docking with Starship in high-Earth orbit before the crewed mission to the Moon, while Blue Origin's lander will launch in four New Glenn rocket stages, potentially rendezvousing with Orion in low-Lunar orbit. NASA aims to launch Artemis III by summer 2027 and Artemis IV by 2028, with the agency emphasizing its commitment to these timelines despite uncertainties in Starship's refueling requirements and Orion's low-lunar orbit capabilities.
