Oil Prices Slide 3% as Hopes for Iran Peace Deal Grow
Published · 1 min read
Crude oil prices dipped at the start of the week due to renewed optimism about a potential peace deal between the United States and Iran, following mediation talks between Iran and Qatar.
Despite Iran's Foreign Minister Araqchi's statement that Tehran is prepared for both defense and diplomacy, oil prices for Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate remained at $109.82 and $100.57 per barrel, respectively. Analysts suggest that any failure of Iranian-Qatari talks to produce a peace agreement could lead to a continuation of current price levels, while an escalation could further decrease oil prices.
