Christmas donations gift demand up, charities say
Published · 1 min read

Charities in Somerset report a surge in demand for Christmas gifts for struggling families, despite receiving fewer donations.
The Chard Christmas Present Appeal, founded by Martyna Lee, is dealing with higher-than-normal demand due to financial struggles, while Taunton's Christmas Sparkle has seen a significant increase in requests, from 500 gifts in 2015 to around 10,000 last year, attributing the rise to the cost of living crisis. Both charities rely solely on donations and are expecting even higher demand this year.
