Forced to pick, Grok’s AI model chooses Republicans. OpenAI’s picks Democrats.
Published · 1 min read

A study found that when forced to choose, SpaceXAI's Grok 4.7 recommended Republican candidates in 92% of nearly 500 election races, while OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Sol picked Democrats in 97%.
The two models agreed on less than 10% of the time. Researchers noted that the AI models' biases were evident in the sources they cited and the topics they searched for, with Grok favoring conservative sources and GPT leaning towards mainstream media. The findings could fuel debates over political bias in AI, especially as the 2024 midterms approach.
