Asia Is Building the World’s Next $15 Trillion Energy Market
Published · 1 min read
Asia is pivotal in the global energy transition, with significant investments needed to meet growing demand and shift towards sustainable energy sources.
Coal will remain the dominant fuel, especially in India and Southeast Asia, while natural gas demand is expected to slow as countries favor cheaper domestic coal and renewables. By 2026, solar energy surpassed gas as the third-largest power source in Asia, and renewable energy costs are projected to be a third cheaper by 2030. Biofuels also show potential, with the capacity to replace $90 billion to $100 billion in fuel imports by 2040, reducing Asia's reliance on imported oil.
