Rare Iranian Strike On Vessel Hundreds Of Miles From Strait Of Hormuz
Published · 1 min read
On Sunday, an Emirati-owned tugboat was struck by projectiles in the Persian Gulf, approximately 83 miles east of Ras al-Khafji, far from the Strait of Hormuz.
This unusual attack targeted a smaller vessel, unlike previous incidents involving large tankers. The vessel was observed partially sinking post-attack. Iran has claimed responsibility for recent attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, and President Trump has threatened renewed attacks on Iran while expressing a willingness to pursue diplomacy. Tehran has proposed reopening the Strait within two days if certain conditions are met, including war reparations and the removal of U.S. forces from nearby areas, which Trump is unlikely to accept.
