Volkswagen to build $4bn Audi SUV factory in US despite job cuts at home

Published · 1 min read

Volkswagen's Audi division will invest $4 billion to build its first US factory in Macon, Georgia, creating 4,500 jobs.

The factory will produce 200,000 SUVs annually, including the Q7, Q8, and Q9 models, shifting some production from Slovakia. Despite this investment, Volkswagen is cutting up to 100,000 jobs in Germany due to competition from Chinese carmakers and the need to invest in electric vehicles.
