Rosebank: Life on the oil field at the centre of a political storm
Published · 1 min read

Journalist James Cook visited the Rosebank oil field, a floating production vessel 80 miles northwest of Shetland, days before Storm Boelo's arrival.
The field, larger than the recently approved Jackdaw, faces a decision from Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh. Environmental campaigners oppose the project, arguing it contradicts the UK's shift towards renewable energy. Adura's CEO, Neil McCulloch, sees potential for more gas fields, while workers focus on their jobs despite the harsh conditions. A decision on Rosebank's approval is expected before Christmas, with weather conditions posing challenges for the crew.
