Heating oil costs 'more than double' ahead of winter
Published · 1 min read
Heating oil costs in Upper Teesdale have more than doubled compared to last year, reaching around £600 for a 500-litre delivery.
Many residents, particularly in Middleton-in-Teesdale, rely on heating oil due to the lack of mains gas supply, with some facing bills of over £1,000. To help manage costs, Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (UTASS) runs a buying group that reduces prices by about 3p per litre through bulk purchases. However, for those unable to afford heating oil, alternative methods like electric oil-filled radiators are being used.
